Miki Yui is a musician and artist who was born in Tokyo and now lives in Dusseldorf, Germany. Since her 1999 debut album "Small Sounds," she has been creating a delicate, unique world of sound through the skillful manipulation of field recordings, faint noises and electronic sound and, more recently, the use of a modular synthesizer. In parallel with her solo performance activities, Yui has released collaborative works with Rolf Julius and Asumus Tietchens, and she is also known for Realistic Monk, her duo project with Carl Stone.
On May 14, 2023, during a stay in Japan, Yui gave a solo concert at Ftarri, Tokyo. This album documents that performance (38 minutes, 31 seconds). Her characteristically lively and pleasing electronic sound comes through clearly and distinctly in this recording.

An incredibly, even surprisingly, soothing record, filled with sounds that scratch my back just right. I'm a bit ashamed I haven't found this sooner. allinall
A brave experimental record from the Cecilia Lopez & Ingrid Laubrock running darting sax lines through dense electronics & processing. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 10, 2023
